Wicked Little Letters movie review...

Updated: Apr 9

Well the British has done it again. This authentic comedy directed by Thea Sharrock and written by Jonny Sweet has come up with an unusual film. Had no idea what this film was about, so kept an open mind and wow was it a surprise to see how humorous it is.

This story is based on a true scandal, taking place in the 1920's, it starts off with Edith Swan (played by Olivia Coleman) receiving some anonymous disturbing letters. Her father and mother are very upset and demand a thorough investigation be done. Edith is a devout Christian, unmarried, and living with her parents. She tries to befriend Rose Gooding (played by Jessie Buckley), a single mom with a foul mouth. The two seem to hit it off considering their opposite personalities.

The movie gets more interesting as more people other than Edith starts receiving these cruel letters and Rose, because of her vulgarity, becomes a suspect and charged. The police and court system believes she's guilty however, some of the women of the town along with the woman police officer Gladys Moss (played by Anjana Vasa) believe Rose is innocent and begin their own investigation.

As the investigation gets underway, you learn more about the lives of these two women. Some of it pretty funny while sad on the other hand. This hilarious movie moves in such a way that end the end, it's a pretty good story line to who wrote the Wicked Little Letters. This film is a🍿🍿🍿 must 👀 in selected theaters Friday April 5th...
